Splish Splash, I was Taking a Bath!

Soooo, we finally fixed our computer (the solution...buy a new one!). I posted 3 other posts below so be sure to check them out!

Addy is not too sure about baths. She definitely is happier now that she gets to lay in the warm water...but still not loving it!

As you will see in the posts below, Addalyn is a very, VERY sweet baby!! But, like all babies, she can get fussy, of course. When she is mad...she sure has a temper. We are still trying to figure out if she is taking after mommy or daddy!!

It breaks her mommy's heart when she cries like that!!

Bright Eyes

We are starting to get some great pictures of Addalyn bright eyed & awake. She's becoming more alert these days and focuses on things more...that is really fun to watch. She's got beautiful blue eyes right now - which most babies do - but I'm thinking they may stay some shade of blue.

Life as a Newborn...

Man, life is HARD as a newborn!!! Of course Addalyn still sleeps a lot...but she is starting to be more alert - especially in the last few days. She sure does get herself into some very crazy sleeping positions - but apparently they are comfortable for her!

Parade!

Addalyn had a big weekend when she was 10 & 11 days old. 4 of my cousins graduated from high school, so we spent Saturday hanging out with family at their open houses. Sunday Addy went to her first parade!!! My home-town's festival was that weekend, and we decided to get out of the house for a bit :)

Blog Withdrawal!

Hey All - I'm going through withdrawal of posting pictures of Addalyn on the blog! Our computer is still getting looked at. So, once there starts to be some posts, check back often as I update her cute pics from the last 2 weeks and going forward. We are not sure exactly when we'll get it back...

We leave for Michigan on Wednesday night...(7/1-7/7) so it may be a while before I finally get to blog again.

Addy's SOOOO excited to meet all of you up in the U.P., she tells me that everyday! :)

Addy's First Babysitters

Addy had her first sitters this weekend, although it wasn't planned and I'd prefer that it was because Aaron and I would have been out doing something exciting like having dinner...instead, we were in the E.R./hospital for the weekend.

I had a really bad stomach ache on Friday and it progressively got worse, so Friday evening we all headed to the Emergency Room. Addy had her first sitter when my sis Angela came and picked her up from there while we waited to find out what was wrong with me. Thanks so much Ang!

Turns out I had appendicitis - and therefore had to have surgery. So, my aunt Sandy came over early Saturday morning as Aaron waited @ the hospital for me to have the surgery, and Addalyn had her 2nd sitter - THANK YOU SANDY!

Aaron's mom Jean came down for the weekend and is still here, taking care of Addalyn so we can all get our rest. Aaron stayed with me at the hospital last night and now we are both exhausted. So, grandma has night duty tonight!

I'm doing okay - sore right now...but happy to be home. I should be resting, but I've been in a hospital bed for so long, I just wanted to check my email and do a few things. Now, I'm going to rest this week, and my mom and sisters are going to help me out as I have some restrictions, so I'll need help caring for my baby. So sad.

It was so hard to be away from Addalyn for 2 nights - I missed her so much! And I am pretty bummed as we spent all day today, on Aaron's first Father's day in the hospital. They had told me this morning that I was not going to get to come home, but then tonight they surprised me. We just got home, so at least that is good! We can celebrate Father's day a different day I guess - the important thing is we were together as a family :)

Happy Father's Day to Aaron! Love you tons - you are such a good daddy :)

Also - Happy Father's Day to my dad, Lowell, Paul, and all the other dads out there. Hope your day was great!

A little Update

Sorry no pictures right now - our computer is currently being fixed so I can't download any. BUMMER! Hopefully it is a quick fix and we will get it back soon!

Well, things are going pretty good! I can't believe our little girl is 2 weeks old tomorrow!

She had her 1 week check-up last Monday, when she was 5 days old. Everything went well. Here are her stats:

Height - 20 inches (59%tile)
Weight - 7 lbs, 3 oz (35%tile) - our little peanut! She hasn't gotten back up to birth weight, but our doctor wasn't concerned, since that is very common and she's eating great!
Head - 35.7 cm (63%tile)

She's still has a fussy time, although it has started to vary and seems to be getting earlier in the evening, which is good. Last night when she finally fell asleep, I had to get up with her at 1:30 for a feeding, and she went back to bed within the hour, then woke up again at 6:30 this morning...so it wasn't too bad!

Aaron and I have sorta worked out a schedule for us during the week. I go to bed early so I can get some rest and he stays up with Addy until about 11. If she's awake, I get up with her, if she's sleeping, we all get to go to bed! Then I get up with her during the night since he has to function at work the next day!! It seems to be working okay for right now.

She's such a doll, I love her so much!

Sleepy Baby

Things are going pretty well here at home. Addy is like every other newborn who loves to sleep! But, she does have a fussy time, and it just happens to be late at night. The last few nights she's been fussy for about 3 hours starting around 10-11 p.m. It makes for a rough few hours, but then after that, she actually has fallen asleep until about 5 in the morning, depending on when the fussiness starts, so at least we are getting a few good hours of sleep in the middle of the night!

I figured I'd recap the day of Addalyn's birth since I haven't said much on here yet!

We got to the hospital at 7:30 to be induced. I was only dilated to 2 1/2 cm & they had to get me to 4 cm before they would start the Pitocin to induce me. We started the Pitocin around noon.

I got an epidural around 2, and at about 3:30 they manually broke my water. Addalyn's heart rate was not reacting well to the contractions, so they wanted to monitor her internally rather than through my tummy. They stopped Pitocin at that time because they wanted her to "recover a bit".

A little while later, they started the Pitocin again. Then, our little Addy decided to cause a little bit of drama, and scare her mother VERY much! At about 7:30 p.m. our nurse and doctor came into the room, and were frantically having me go from my left side & right side because Addalyn's heart rate was so low. It was not increasing, so they had me get on my hands and knees (and due to the epidural, they were holding me on my hands/knees since I could not do it myself). More people were coming in my room as this was occurring - there were probably about 8 doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists, etc.

I was so scared, that I was crying and almost hyper-ventilating 'cause we did not know exactly what was going on - everything was happening so fast. Aaron was a saint, trying to keep me calm, especially when you could see in his eyes that he was scared also.

Long story short, we were about 1 minute away from an emergency c-section because of her heart rate being so low & the length of time it was taking for it to increase. But - being on my hands and knees helped, thank goodness.

At that time, I was dilated to 9 - they stopped the Pitocin again for us to relax & recoop - and said I'd probably be able to start pushing in an hour. My epidural was starting to ware off by then, so I was pretty uncomfortable. But, when I was finally able to start pushing, I only had to for about 20 minutes, then Aaron told me before anyone had the chance "It's a girl" and little Addalyn Jane was born.

Sooo, it was a little more dramatic than we hoped for, but that's okay. In the end, we have a healthy little girl who already has her daddy wrapped around her finger and melts her mommy's heart every time I look at her!

It's a Girl!!

Addalyn Jane Anderson was born at 10:19 p.m. on June 3rd!! 7 pounds 10 ounces. It was a very very long day for everyone, but well worth it. She's beautiful!!!!

I will post more details later (and of course pictures when we are home!)

A Light @ the end of the Tunnel!!

Well, today I am 6 days overdue - we had an appt. yesterday afternoon that included a "Non-Stress Test", an Ultra Sound, and a check up with my doctor. The test was to make sure the baby's heartrate responded well to stimulation, and the ultra sound was to make sure that there were still okay levels of amniotic fluid.

Well, everything was fine, and I was surprised when we met with my doctor to find that there was NO CHANGE. WHAT?????? You've gotta be kidding me! I'm still only a little over 1 cm. dilated. But, there is some good news! Tomorrow, if all goes well, I will be induced :)

Mayo Clinic has a 10 day policy - where they are supposed to schedule an induction for at least 10 days after you are due. They have it this way because it is so much better for your body to go into labor naturally...which I'm still hoping happens sometime today instead of getting induced (but there are no signs of that happening!). Day 10 is actually Saturday, so my doctor said she could play with it since that was over the weekend. She tried to schedule the induction for Friday - and they were booked. Thursday was booked also, so she cheated and scheduled it for tomorrow. Hurray for Dr. Marnach! Otherwise it would be next Monday, and I'm just too excited to meet my baby to wait another whole weekend!

Sooooooo - today I am cleaning my house to make sure it is nice & clean for me and the baby when we return...going to take a nap because it will be the last time in a LONG time that I can take a nap when I want to...and just relaxing.

Please pray that there aren't a lot of deliveries going on overnight. 'Cause if it is too busy, we'd get a call in the morning that the induction has to be rescheduled - I promise to cry if that happens! Ha ha!
